“The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; he will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8). This verse is very encouraging to us right now. As you may know, we’ve finished our allotted time for full-time Thai language study and are now shifting our focus onto the ministries of evangelism and church planting. We’re planning to reach out to university students through the bridge of teaching English. This age group is most interested in learning English and also most receptive to the gospel message. In order to be most effective in this ministry, we feel it’s important to move closer to one of the universities in the Chiang Mai area. This is where the need for prayer comes in. At this point, we’re considering two different universities: North Chiang Mai University (NCU) and Mae Jo University (MJU). The school are located on opposite sides of the city and, to the best of our knowledge, there are not English ministries specifically targeting either of these schools. Also, there is a possibility of volunteering in the English departments at both universities. Of course, we would need to move to be near one of these universities, so another factor is housing. We’ve found a possible rental house near one school and are still looking for housing close to the other university.
So, where do we go? We feel that God is opening doors at both locations, but are really seeking His leading as we make some big decisions in the coming weeks. Thanks for partnering with us in prayer as we wait on the Lord. We are confident that He will lead in His timing.
