October 2010 Report

We’re thankful that the cool season has officially begun here in Thailand.  During the day, the temps still reach the mid-80’s, but the nights have been dropping to around 60°F (about 15°C) which calls for blankets in the evening and sweatshirts in the morning.  It great to actually feel cold!

During the first week of October Joyce Anderson arrived in Chiang Mai to attend a two week counseling and member care seminar.  Joyce is TCM’s Member Care Coordinator as well as the wife of our director, Ben Anderson.  She is also a great encouragement and blessing to our family and we’re thankful for the extra time she was able to spend with us both before and after the conference.

Joyce prays with the Maraat's and our children

The English class that Genesis and Nathan began teaching at Nakhonping Church last month now been split into two classes.  Genesis teaches the adult class and normally has 4 students.  Meanwhile, Nathan teaches the children (ages 10-13) with 5 or 6 in regular attendance.  Please pray for the students as they study English and have opportunities to hear about Christ and His love for them.

Last month, Nathan was given 3 opportunities to share from the Bible at  Thai small groups.  Although preparing a message in Thai is still a slow process, each time it gets a bit easier.  Also, it’s quite intimidating to share from Scripture in Thai, knowing that we’re only at a 2nd/3rd grade level of speaking.  However, we’re thankful for every chance we get and know that the power of God’s Word is much greater than our language limitations!
